The Learning Revolution Trust is jointly hosting a conference with the Local London group of East London local authorities and the London First employers organisation, with the aim of identifying the key principles and priorities for the future delivery of post 16 education in the city.
Vocational education is facing unprecedented change. Employers are warning of growing skills gaps and planning for the potential impact of Brexit. Training providers are dealing with major financial pressures and structural and policy changes. Large employers, including local authorities will be faced with an apprenticeship levy from April 2017 and the government has confirmed its intention to devolve adult education budgets to the city by 2020.
The conference will bring together businesses, education providers and policy makers to explore ways of strengthening pathways to work, upskill local residents and meet the future skills needs of employers.
